Open Standards

On the 16th of November 2017, Kopano signed the open standards suppliers manifesto of the Standardization Forum. As a member of the advisory board of The Document Foundation (TDF), Kopano is one of the frontrunners in Europe to establish open standards for office and mail applications.

The Standardization Forum is a Dutch, neutral an independent organization that aims to promote interoperability and vendor independence through the use of open standards for digital data exchange in the public sector. By signing the Supplier Manifesto Kopano has indicated to promote the interoperability of the Digital Government which means we will:

  • apply the list of mandatory standards
  • use public and freely accessible best practices and implementation profiles wherever possible
  • align with the Generic Digital Infrastructure of the National Council

Open standards supported by Kopano include, but are not limited to the following:

  • IMAP, SMTP and POP3
  • ODF, PDF, MIME and HTML/CSS
  • WebRTC
  • x509
  • SQL, LDAP, SOAP
