WebApp is focused on making communication easier, faster and more enjoyable by making information available and accessible in a simple way. The previous beta introduced the ability to set mail filters for other users, showing shared contact folders in your address book and much more. We are happy to announce the availability of WebApp 3.3.0 beta 2 today which brings more improvements and a major new feature.
Highlighted features
Search improvements
This new version of WebApp introduces major search functionality improvements:
-
Select a specific search folder (before searching).
-
Improved default search folder logic.
-
Include sub-folders when searching.
Searching in a specific folder
This search iteration introduces the ability to select a specific folder to search through from a drop-down menu. This search folder menu is available next to your search field in both the search tab as well as in every folder you have opened. Additionally, your search tab is no longer linked to selected folder from the folder hierarchy. This allows you to freely navigate through different folders while keeping the selected search folder in your search tab intact.
Include sub-folders when searching
This version also introduces the ability to include sub-folders when searching through your own as well as shared mailboxes. This feature is enabled by default, but can be configured for each search query from the search toolbar as well as the ‘Select folder’-dialog.
Note: The ability to include sub-folders when searching shared/public folders is only supported with KC 8.2.0 beta1 and higher.
Smarter search starting point
WebApp now will now select the folder to search through based on the currently opened folder. In the user’s own “Inbox” folder, where WebApp selects “All folders” by default. Naturally the folder to search through can be changed via the search folder (drop-down) menu next to search field.
Create and assign tasks
This version introduces the ability to create and assign tasks. Creating and assigning tasks is a key feature for any collaborating team and organization. Keeping track of an assigned task is equally important. Therefore, we have also implemented the ability to keep track of the progress of an assigned task. This means you will receive task update messages for every saved change the assignee makes and WebApp will keep an updated copy of the assigned task in your tasks folder. This option can also be disabled when creating a task request. You will in any case receive task accepted, declined and completed messages.
There is more…
In addition, lots of small improvements and bug fixes have been implemented:
- GAB loading performance has improved as WebApp no longer retrieves and caches user information when no presence plugin is installed
- Suggested recipients can be deleted with a mouse-click.
- Formatting is no longer lost when saving a draft which is opened multiple times or viewing a message from drafts
- Empty lines no longer disappear when saving or sending a mail
- The address book no longer separately sorts groups by name
