S/MIME 2.1.0 final
The S/MIME add-on for WebApp is an easy to use tool that helps you secure your email with minimal effort. Enable cross-organization data sharing, and fight against data leakage. S/MIME is about exchanging email with an extra layer of trust by using a so-called ‘public key infrastructure’ (PKI). In practice this means that the user ensures the authenticity of the message by adding a digital signature. In addition, encryption can be used to avoid data leakage in case you were to be hit by a ‘man-in-the-middle’ attack. If you want more details about the Kopano S/MIME plugin, have a look at the page about Email Security.
Whats new in this version?
This new version of S/MIME enhances the management of certificates for administrators. Public keys of your users can now be stored in your LDAP or Active Directory service. When an encrypted message has to be sent to another user the public key (required to encrypt the message for that user) can be retrieved from the GAB. There is no longer a need to exchange certificates with other users in your organisation first.
In addition, users can now change the passphrase on uploaded private keys. This can come in handy if for instance you have received your private key from a system administrator and it has a preset passphrase.
Mobile Device Management 2.0.1 final
Mobile Device Management (MDM) provides the user with the ability to get an overview of the ActiveSync devices connected to their account. This includes mobiles, tablets and also Outlook clients. For each device the status is displayed (e.g. last synchronization time) and the user has the ability to force a resync, delete the device so it no longer synchronizes or wipe the device remotely in case it is lost or stolen.
Whats new in this version?
This new version of MDM mainly focuses on the compatibility with the new version of WebApp (3.1.0). If you are using WebApp 3.1 and want to (continue to) use MDM as well, it is important that you install this update as well. MDM 2.0.1 is also compatible with older versions of WebApp.
