We often talk about terms and think that our conversation partner has the same understanding of the term as we do. However, this is not the way it is. We use a variety of abstract terms, each with its own interpretation and experience. Therefore, it is very helpful to clarify the term at the beginning and take a closer look at the subject.

What does "sovereign" have to do with "super"?

  1. Super is the increase of sovereign. If I am super sovereign, I am better than just sovereign.

This logic is certainly not entirely wrong, but this is not the connection we are looking for.

  2. The people are the sovereign, they say. But I don’t know whether that is super.

This connection is also not what we are looking for.

  3. That has to do with the origin of the term – “sovereign” has developed from the Latin word “super” (above) into the French word “souverain” (supreme, highest, excellent). Thus “super” is basically the linguistic precursor of “sovereign”.

Bingo – the origin of the term establishes the connection. Correct!
